Video Husky: Day 1

Today’s Day 1 of a new project that I’m running: Video Husky.

In the past few months, I’ve been working with my marketing clients and I’ve consistently run into the same problem again and again…

None of my clients knew how to edit a nice 30 promotion video to advertise on Facebook.

Thanks to our smartphones, they had great photos and acceptable footage, but they all hit a bottleneck the moment they had to edit the videos.

Their options are to:

  • Hire an agency (too expensive)

  • Hire a freelancer (unreliable and quality varies too much)

  • Learn it themselves (too time consuming and not best use of their time)

As I started talking to more small business owners, I realized this is a pretty big issue.

Everybody wants to have great videos for their business and projects, but right now there’s no way to produce those videos in a high quality, reliable and consistent manner for a reasonable price.

So here’s my plan.

Over the next 90 days I want to test an idea — provide unlimited video creation and editing services for a flat monthly rate of $450 USD.

My theory is this: most companies don’t need a full time video editor, instead what they need reliable video editing on demand. They don’t want to worry about engaging and hiring somebody to get the work done, they just want somebody to get the work done in an efficient and value for money manner.

At a flat monthly rate of $450 I believe I can satisfy their demands, but at the same time be profitable by having one video editor servicing 4–8 customers at the same time given these customers will not request unlimited videos and even then, will still need time for revisions.

I believe my freelance video editor’s dead time can be better utilized by servicing another customer’s needs during that wait.

My goal over the next 90 days this company can service 10 customers profitably and sustainably, then I’ll officially launch the company on June 1st.

I currently have one freelancer hired, two customers paying $450 a month with a few more interested parties.

Will be looking forward to seeing how this project can work!
