2023 Life Update

2023 Life Update

The end of 2022 and 2023 has been a big shift in life

For the first time instead of living year by year, by moving to New Zealand Lyss and I are planning on this being a longer term home ideally for 5-10+ year and thinking that way has changed both of us.

I'm 29

I'm 29

It's the first time in three years that I'm writing a birthday post, ironically on the year that there's relatively little to provide an update on, but one that I think is important given the transitions that've happened and what I'd like for life to look like going forward.

For the last year I've hired a General Manager and stepped away from Video Husky. Here's how it all played out.

A 2020-2021 Covid Update

It’s been almost two years since I’ve last posted so wanted to provide an update on how life is going.

It has been more than a year since I have written a Video Husky update but 445 days later, things haven’t gone quite as smoothly as planned.

2020Q1: When Unexpected Things Happen

2020Q1: When Unexpected Things Happen

Safe to say the last couple of months have been crazy for everybody; on my side, the last three weeks have been a combination of packing, booking flights at the last minute so I could enter Australia, quarantining on Lyss’ parents’ farm for two weeks before finally settling into Melbourne a couple of days ago. But in a way that summed up most of the quarter, things happening unexpectedly – fortunately COVID aside, most other things happened for the better.

Altanx: End of an Era

Altanx: End of an Era

I recently sold Altanx, the first company that I started nine years ago.

The business model was simple – sell high-quality sporting apparel at a reasonable price. While the company itself went through two different iterations (which you can read about in detail here and here), the aim of the company was always to provide a happy middle ground for customers who wanted nice sportswear without breaking the bank.

Quarter 3 and 4 Tradeoffs

Quarter 3 and 4 Tradeoffs

The last six months were long ones.

Quarter 3 particularly was a busy one. During that time, I made 10 trips and it took its toll. It’s rare that I travel this often, usually, I prefer to stay in a place for six weeks at a time just so that I’m able to build up momentum and get more stuff done. But for the first time in years, I almost subconsciously prioritized traveling over stability and I think it’s because I just don’t like Phnom Penh much.

I’ve always measured success in terms of progress and given that, the first 11 months of being 25 has hands down been the most successful period of my life.

Video Husky: Day 555

Today marks 555 days since Video Husky started, just over 1.5 years! A lot has happened since the last update that I wrote about here, but instead of discussing Video Husky’s growth, I wanted to share a few personal lessons as well as what I’ll be focusing on in the next few months.
